Find out what the Bible says about healing.
|
Everyone has heard the stories, in some form or another, of people who were healed by faith. Depending on who is telling the story, the tone may be mocking, joking, astonishment, or thankfulness.
There is much controversy about Supernatural Healing as a general rule within todays society, and the media capitalizes on the spectacular nature of the supernatural very commonly.
As a matter of fact, Tuesday night on The Guardian, a prime time network show, one of the attorneys was diagnosed with ALS, a neuromuscular disease that is commonly known as Lou Gherigs Disease. He found himself searching for answers and grasping at straws in the face of his own physical decline.
One of the very first things he did was make an appointment with a healer in Los Angeles, California. He flew across the country in hopes of being healed from this devastating illness. After he visited the healer, he walked out and said, very matter-of-factly, Well, I guess I am healed now. By the end of the episode, he doubted whether he actually was healed, but maintained the hope.
As Christians, however, we need to know what the Bible says about healing. We probably all have heard of someone being healed at one time or another, and the Bible clearly states that God heals.
Many of us have seen people being prayed for for healing on TV, and some of us may also have been exposed to the magical sort of supernatural healings as seen on television documentaries about supernatural activity. We need to be educated about the truth about supernatural healing.
Still, I remember, a good friend of mine who was taken to see several healers as a child. She was diagnosed with a severe form of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis when she was only a baby. She had a number of joint problems and even lost her vision in one eye when she was very young. Her mother, after several doctors offered little hope for her, began taking her to healers.
I cant imagine the hopelessness a mother would feel when the doctors offer none, but I can see how it would be easy for a mother to take her child to see a healer as a last hope. Unfortunately, my friend was never healed and as a result of her exposure to these healers, she is very skeptical about religion, God, and supernatural experiences.
If you would like to know more about what the Bible really says about supernatural healing, Pastor Mark Hartman, from Sugar Creek Baptist Church will be preaching on the subject on March 21 at 9 and 10:30 am. Come and see what the Bible says about healing.
