H-E-B SPONSORS THE 6TH ANNUAL LA FERIA DE LA MUJER Y LA FAMILIA
Thousands of Houstonians will visit the exhibits and enjoy the entertainment on March 16 at the George R. Brown Convention Center Hall A-3rd floor. HOUSTON- H-E-B is the proud title sponsor of this year's La Feria de la Mujer y la Familia 2008 (Women and Family Festival 2008), hosted by UNIVISION Radio. A celebration for Hispanic women, their families and friends, the event will be held on March 16 from 12:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center, located at 1001 Ave of the Americas in downtown Houston. The history of the Hispanic culture is as rich as the great state of Texas. H-E-B is part of that rich history of Texas and is proud to serve as the title sponsor of La Feria de la Mujer y la Familia for the 5th year in a row, said James Harris, director of supplier diversity for H-E-B. H-E-B is committed to supporting the Houston community and is excited to partner with UNIVISION to celebrate the Hispanic community in Houston. From vendor exhibits and childrens activities to cooking demonstrations and celebrity entertainment, La Feria de la Mujer y la Familia is an ideal opportunity for many organizations and businesses to share their products, services and information in a casual and fun environment. Well-known Hispanic speakers will present a variety of topics of interest to Hispanic women and their families, including health and fitness; home and garden; fashion and beauty; career and education; art and literature; and financial advice. Celebrities at this year's Feria de la Mujer 2008 include Dr. Isabel G&oactue;mez-Bassols, better known to her fans as la Doctora Isabel, el Angel de la Radio (Dr. Isabel, the Angel of the Airwaves). There will also be a very special hair show by international celebrity hair designer, Samy, known as the creative genie and guru of hair-styling. Additional attractions include a special fashion show and dance performance by Patricia Lessa Agency for Hispanic Talent & Modeling, ballet folklorico dance performances by Patricia Astorgas Sabor Mexico co-sponsored by the Mexican Consulate; the Nuestra Palabra: Latino Writers Having Their Say Art and Literature Pavilion featuring childrens storytelling and reading by the Childrens Museum of Houston; and blood pressure screenings and aerobics demonstrations by the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Univision TV and Radio personalities will also be present signing autographs, taking pictures and joining in the celebration. In addition, one One Hundred Dollar H-E-B Grocery Co. gift certificate will be given away to one lucky winner by raffle every ten minutes throughout the event.
