Norton Internet Security 2010

If you have been reading the Computer Corner for a long time, you know I have never been a fan of Norton Internet Security. That changed last year though when Norton Internet Security 2009 was released. Now Norton Internet Security 2010 is out and it is just as good.

Many features of Norton Internet Security have been improved. Here are a few of them:

Faster Load - If you have used a computer that ran older versions of Norton Internet Security, you know that boot up took forever. Windows would boot, but would not be ready to use until Norton Internet Security had been fully loaded and this took forever. Now it loads very quickly.

Smarter Firewall - In the past, Norton Internet Security could make sharing files and printers between computers a real challenge, but now it's a lot easier in the new versions.

SPAM Filter - Norton Internet Security 2010 has added technology from Symantec's Enterprise level softwares to really improve the accuracy of its SPAM filter. The filter integrates with Outlook and Outlook Express.

Malware Blocking - Norton Internet Security 2010 has blocks to protect you from root kits and other spyware you might download. Like a lot of spyware protectors, it scores high, but does not block everything. You still have to be careful what you are downloading, but it will warn you if you go to sites that are known sources of spyware.

Parental Controls - This allows you to block inappropriate web sites and log any attempts to access them.

While many users are running free versions of AVG and other antivirus softwares, Norton Internet Security offers a firewall, spam filter and parental controls that those softwares do not have.
